Internet booking is an easy way to obtain your ticket. After having registered on our website you can book your tickets online and print them on your printer at home or have then send by post. Please check the section "OnlineTicket" for further information and details as to how to obtain your self-printed ticket. In order to make your future bookings easier, you may save your own profile, including your booking and reservation preferences (e.g. window seat, non-smoking coach). For any future booking, your profile will appear automatically in the TravelService. You may change, it of course, as necessary.

There are about 3,000 touch screen ticket vending machines, available at almost all stations. They offer self-service tickets and seat reservations. By using the express booking function you can obtain your ticket quickly, only a few minutes prior to departure. This service is offered in 5 languages apart from English. You can select your trains in more detail by choosing to display the connections sorted by departure or arrival time, number of changes, time the journey will take or price.

Our service staff at the ticket counters at stations sell train tickets and give you personal advice. You can purchase national and international tickets, receive timetable information and make seat reservations. Of course, staff at ticket counters will also advise on special offers and answer your questions about travelling with DB.

Authorised German Rail travel agencies sell tickets and offer advice. They have information on the latest special offers and advice on services to make your rail travel as comfortable and convenient as possible.

While in Germany you may also book your ticket and make seat reservations via our Call Centre in Germany. The ticket will be sent to you by mail or may be retrieved from any of the touch screen ticket vending machines at the stations. Timetable information is also available. Dial 1805-996633 (phone charges apply) and speak to our friendly service staff.

You may also purchase your tickets on board of Deutsche Bahn's long-distance trains - but not on local services. Train attendants sell tickets for a small extra charge. You may pay cash or by credit card.

On DB trains it is not necessary to stamp your ticket before you get on board. Your ticket will be checked at least once per journey. You will have to show your ticket again, if there is a change of staff or when you change trains. If you have a BahnCard, please show this on the same time. The train attendant checks the code printed on the OnlineTicket against your OnlineTicket ID in order to confirm that the ticket is valid. Please, always show your OnlineTicket ID. Please always carry your ticket and your OnlineTicket ID with you when leaving your seat.
