Travelling to Germany

By plane
The airports in Frankfurt, Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf have their own railway station, which feed directly into DB’s long-distance network. These stations provide an almost seamless transit from plane to train with instant access to Germany’s regional trains as well as the high-speed rail network.

At the airports in Berlin-Schönefeld, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Munich, Leipzig and Stuttgart there is a local train service to the main station. All other airports have regular bus or tram connections to the main railway station.

By Ferry/Car
To arrive by ferry to Germany one has to go either via the UK or France. For onward tickets from ports such as Amsterdam (IJmuiden), Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Calais, Dunkerque or Ostend please contact the DB UK Booking Centre.

For onward travel by car, the DB Autozug (motorail) is a good alternative to avoid traffic jams and a stressful journey. The nearest DB Autozug terminal would be in Düsseldorf where overnight motorail services depart to Munich in Germany, Bolzano, Verona and Alessandria in Italy, Innsbruck, Villach, Vienna and Salzburg in Austria and Avignon and Narbonne in France. A new destination is Rijeka in Croatia. For more information or DB Autozug tickets www.dbautozug.de (also available in English).
