Deutsche Bahn’s First Website for Ireland
Deutsche Bahn has just launched a website specifically for customers in Ireland. Since 2000 Deutsche Bahn has had a dedicated call centre for the UK and the Republic of Ireland with its own website www.bahn.co.uk, but since 1 January 2007 there is also a new website with prices in euros and special offers that are more relevant to customers in Ireland.
The website is easy to navigate. In addition, timetables can be found for almost any rail journey in Europe as the DB’s reservation system includes almost all European destinations with a station. It gives quotes for all train journeys within Germany and also for straightforward cross-border journeys to Germany’s neighbouring countries. Besides timetable information, the website provides details of special offers, German trains and a variety of European rail passes. Popular offers are, amongst others:
- The Länder Ticket: For around 23 EUR and just one ticket, up to 5 people can explore one of Germany’s federal states for one day on regional trains.
- The SparPrice: Book 3 days in advance and receive 25% discount on a return journey within Germany or from Germany to a neighbouring country. Book 7 days in advance, include part of a weekend between the outbound and inbound journeys, and receive 50% discount!
- SparNight: Travel for as little as 29 EUR with the German night train, DB NachtZug, within Germany and also from Germany to cities such as Zurich, Milan, Copenhagen and Budapest.
- Gruppe&Spar: Attractive discounts of up to 70% off the normal fare are available for groups consisting of six people or more travelling within Germany.
Deutsche Bahn has also thought of customers’ needs beyond the train and offers a comprehensive hotel booking tool on the website. It shows a selection of hotels in different price categories for most cities in Europe and even some outside Europe.

Currently Deutsche Bahn has a special offer: the "Winter Special" valid between 13 January and 28 February 2007. For journeys within Germany prices start from 29 EUR per person for any distance and for journeys to Germany’s seven neighbouring countries from 39 EUR per person.
