ICE inspection

Deutsche Bahn will probably operate services on the four ICE-T lines according to the replacement timetable valid since last Saturday until mid-November. More than two-thirds of train services on the four lines affected are ensured.
Restrictions for passengers are being reduced continuously thanks to the daily increase in the number of ICE-T vehicles inspected.

Some 90 per cent of the entire ICE and IC long-distance fleet are running to schedule.

Replacement timetable for the following four lines only:

  • Hamburg – Berlin – Leipzig - Munich
  • Wiesbaden – Frankfurt – Leipzig - Dresden
  • Stuttgart – Singen - Zürich
  • Dortmund – Koblenz – Mainz – Frankfurt – Nuremberg – Passau - Vienna

The additional technical inspections are being continued at full stretch. All available DB staff and facilities are working 24 hours. We ask our passengers for their understanding for these precautionary measures we are carrying out.

All important information concerning the replacement timetables and daily changes are available at www.bahn.de/aktuell. WAP-enabled mobile phone users can access latest travel information at mobile.bahn.de/ris.

A 24-hour toll-free service hotline is available for information by telephone on
08000 99 66 33; passengers from abroad can gain information on the service hotline +49 1805 33 44 44 (charges depend on the country of origin and provider).

The following extended discretionary arrangements are in place for passengers affected by the restrictions in ICE services: Passengers unable to start their journey can exchange their ticket or have the fare reimbursed at no charge until 30 November 2008. DB season tickets will be proportionally reimbursed.

Reservations which cannot be used will also be reimbursed at no charge. If an Intercity has to be used instead of an ICE, the difference in the fare will be refunded.

In the case of special offers such as saver fares, the Dauer-Spezial or group travel, the specific-train booking-condition will be set aside if travellers are unable to use the train booked.
