The BahnCard-Extra for Europe

In addition to BahnCard reductions on DB lines, as a BahnCard holder you will also receive a 25% reduction on the standard fare for the section abroad when travelling to 29 European countries. This offer is not valid for global fares (e.g. Thalys). The international Plus is contained automatically in every BahnCard.

Countries with the RAILPLUS benefit
All BahnCard holders receive the RAILPLUS reduction for railway journeys to Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, or Ukraine.

Young people under the age of 26 who are holders of a BahnCard with RAILPLUS receive an additional benefit when travelling to France, Norway, Portugal, Spain, or Sweden.

Senior citizens (over 60 years of age) also receive the reduction when travelling to France, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, or Sweden.
The offer for you at a glance
For cross-border journeys to 29 European countries, you receive a 25% reduction on the standard 1st or 2nd class fare for the section abroad to those destinations which are available in DB's electronic sales systems.

For journeys within the countries belonging to the TEE Rail Alliance (Austria, Germany and Switzerland), you do not require RAILPLUS since the individual reduced tickets of each railway (e.g. the BahnCard) are recognised by the others and 25% discount is granted (on standard fares and saver fares).

The reduction is granted for cross-border journeys - also subsequent to global fares (e.g. Thalys), but not for purely domestic travel in the foreign country.

With RAILPLUS, there are no additional reductions for children. Children receive a 50% reduction on the standard fare abroad. The age limits for children may be different from country to country.

RAILPLUS has the same period of validity as the relevant BahnCard.

Reservation charges have to be paid in the full amount.

Although RAILPLUS is recognised in some countries, it is not sold there. It is therefore recommended to purchase the tickets for the return journey as well in Germany.
